The municipality of Tignish, Prince Edward Island, holds the honour of celebrating the 2019 Congrès mondial acadien in its community on August 11, 2019. Did you know that Acadians were the first settlers to arrive in Tignish? In 1799, eight Acadian families settled along the coast in an area, which today is referred to as The Green. Shortly after, immigrants from Ireland joined them. Today, The Green is a historical site as well as an archeological site open to anyone interested in learning more about Tignish founders and enjoying the views, landscapes and beaches offered by this area of historic significance.
