August 10 to 24, 2019

Prince Edward Island and Southeast New Brunswick
lisa leBlancMoncton, June 29, 2018 – Singer and musician Lisa LeBlanc has been named artistic director for one of the key events of the Congrès mondial acadien 2019 – the August 15 celebrations to be held in Dieppe, New Brunswick.

Originally from Rosaireville, New Brunswick, Lisa LeBlanc says that she is looking forward to the challenge. “This will be my first time working as an artistic director. I am really excited that my directorial debut will be for the day of August 15th, a celebration that is near and dear to my heart.”

With two albums and one EP, dozens of tours in Canada, the United States and Europe and more than 140,000 albums sold on two continents, Lisa LeBlanc has been successful from the get go. Her touching and heart-wrenching songs inspired by stories of heartbreak and
friendship have been compared to the original works of Courtney Barnett, Bob Dylan and Dolly Parton. For her EP and second album, the artist drew her inspiration from a long road trip in the United States, acquiring hints of old time, Cajun and bluegrass through music jams she attended during her travels as well as at home in New Brunswick.

National Acadian Day is one of the highlights of the CMA 2019 programming. August 15, 2019 will be the perfect
opportunity to celebrate the rich and modern Acadian culture and identity. It will be a day of celebration, but also a day of collaboration and acknowledgment for the Acadian people. In addition to a premium show in the evening, the August 15 celebrations will also include a Tintamarre and several other activities for the whole family.

Congrès mondial acadien 2019 Chair, Claudette Thériault, is pleased that the artistic direction of this important day will be entrusted to such a talented and dynamic artist. “We are extremely happy that Lisa has accepted the challenge and will be taking charge of this major event, marking the return of the CMA in Southeastern New Brunswick, 25 years after the first Congrès in 1994.”
