Prince Edward Island and Southeast New Brunswick
CMA2019 Guide Pedagogique cover 01
Moncton, September 21, 2018
– The Congrès mondial acadien (CMA) 2019 is launching a teaching guide for host region francophone school districts in Prince Edward Island and Southeastern New Brunswick. The teaching guide, in preparation for the CMA 2019, is a resource developed to help education professionals to promote the event among education workers in the host regions.

The 45-page guide deals with various themes related to Acadie and the CMA, including cultural identity, history, language, art, and the future of Acadie. Each section in the guide suggests activities for students from kindergarten to grade 12. The purpose of the guide is not only to provide resources to teachers in preparation for the CMA 2019 but also to have students at all levels reflect on various topics.

“As the inclusion and importance of youth are part of the CMA 2019’s vision, education is an important gateway to give next generations a vision of a traditional and contemporary Acadie,” says CMA 2019 Chair, Claudette Thériault.

The guide will also encourage participation in the youth event of CMA 2019, which, for its sixth edition, has a new format.

Although the guide will first be used in francophone schools in Prince Edward Island and southeastern New Brunswick, it is expected to be used in other regions and provinces, including immersion classes.

There will also be a Congrès mondial acadien 2019 presence at the 71st conference of the Association canadienne d’éducation de langue française (ACELF - Canadian Association of French Language Education) to be held in Moncton from September 27-29 to inform education workers on the resources provided in the guide.

The education guide in preparation of the Congrès mondial acadien 2019 was developed with the collaboration of the Prince Edward Island Department of Education, Early Learning and Culture and the Southern New Brunswick francophone school district. It can be downloaded now from the CMA 2019 website: www.cma2019.com/guidepedagogique
